Diarrhoea, or loose stool, is a fairly common ailment caused by various things. But most of the time, diarrhoea is simply an inconvenient side effect, usually temporarily of eating something your body doesn’t agree with.

If you’re a traveller, there are things you can do to help prevent diarrhoea. Avoid drinking chlorinated tap water. Don’t eat foods contaminated with bacteria. Wash your hands before eating and after using the restroom. Avoid foods that have been sitting around for a long time. During your trip, take small, frequent meals. Drink plenty of water. And try to eat foods that contain probiotics, such as yoghurt, kefir, and sauerkraut.

Do drink plenty of fluids.

Many people think dehydration isn’t a big deal, but that’s one big mistake. Dehydration can be deadly, and it’s important to keep yourself hydrated.
